Happy New Year, I pray this year will be filled with patriots standing strong and running toward liberty.

I ask this question in all seriousness, and with hope that my conclusions are right – but only temporarily: “What is grand about the Grand Old Party?”
When you consider that, you naturally start thinking about what they stand for, as well as what they don’t stand for.
I’m trying real hard to come up with something, anything, and so far, the best I’ve got is that they stand for not being Democrats, so I guess that means that they stand for themselves, or maybe more accurately – it stands for itself.
But honestly, I can’t say – with any certainty or conviction, anything of substance that the Grand Old Party stands for.
When I think back 35 or 40 years to when I was a natural-born Conservative, all the while apolitical while observant and aware in my pursuit of happiness as a young American, I thought I knew what the Democrats stood for and still stand for. They were liberal then, and they’re liberal now. No trying to hide it, if ya don’t like it, don’t bother with them or vote for them and theirs – and I never did.
But when I think about all the things I thought the Grand Old Party stood for, represented, supported or promoted, I can’t say the party is known for any of them now.
Some of it’s members and supporters still represent those old fashioned ideas like limited government, having the freedom, ability and fearlessness to do it your way – right or wrong, responsible and respectful use of low and reasonable tax demands, as well as the position that our American bedrock of traditional values are worthy and irreplaceable because they have remained the best after the test, of brutally-honest time.
But that was then, and now is…………disappointing, to say the least. The generic, now all -inclusive word “conservative” springs to mind when thinking about that party, but when I think about what it is they seem to be conserving, I once again come up with NOTHING. In regards to a conservative standing on social issues, they’re still pretty well represented there, but even those defenders are taking very unfriendly fire from the party regularly – and more openly.
Yet, when I think about our Constitution, our Founding Principles, and that whole Grand collective “why?” for America’s version of government, today’s Grand Old Party is nowhere, NOWHERE, to be found.
I think about the only thing the Grand Old Party is really trying to conserve is its place in a 2 party system. And sadly, their approach to that mission is, if you don’t like the Democrats so much, you should be a Republican – because they’re not Democrats (read: progressive), at least, not near as much. For me, that’s about as appealing as the Prevent Defense in football – think: November 2012. Perhaps that explains their growing ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
From where I’m standing, I don’t see a whole lot of Grand going on.
If the party was a man, I’d be telling him to give his Man Card back. But the Grand Old Party isn’t a man, and it’s not so Grand anymore either.
I think it’s time to drop the façade of being Grand, quit trying to cash in on the reputation that precedes it, and just be upfront about what it really is, by design – the Old Party.

A few months ago I was on the phone with my sister and I received a God nudge. If you have had one, you know what I am talking about. I had an idea to give out baskets to my Uncle’s mission Matthew’s House for Christmas. The great thing about God’s nudges is that if you obey He works out the rest.
My sister called my aunt in September and shared the idea and asked how many families to expect for the upcoming holiday. 40 families…40 baskets…and a bunch of stuff to fill them. As the months went on we picked up items and received donations through family and friends. Donations always seemed to come in when we feared this project was too big for us.
Instead of games, our family got together and made crafts to fill the baskets with love. One of my aunts knitted 13 hats. A woman at my Bible study, almost weekly, gave me baskets she bought at Salvation Army. Family arrived at our Christmas party early to drop off even more donations and help pack up 28 baskets.
My sister and I met up this past weekend to finish up the rest…we planned that there was 6 baskets to finish up, my sister found 12 more in her basement (don’t you love when God has a sense of humor). At the end we had exactly 40 baskets!!!
My Uncle said the baskets were a big hit at the Matthew’s House Christmas Party. I encourage you to act on those God nudges, because it is so fulfilling watching Him work through everyone around you. If you are looking to support a charity this year please consider Matthew’s house, Merry Christmas!!!
I was paging through my hymnal and was refreshed by the third verse of, It Came upon the Midnight Clear…And ye, beneath life’s crushing load, Whose forms are bending low, Who toil along the climbing way With painful steps and slow, Look now! for glad and golden hours Come swiftly on the wing: O rest beside the weary road And hear the angels sing…
Thankfully during this Christmas season we can be reminded that even though America has drifted so far away from it’s origins, we can always rest and remember that God is bigger and more powerful than the progressive machine. Rest patriots in the peace that passes all understanding and… MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
In the latest development in the ongoing culture war surrounding Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson’s controversial remarks on homosexuality, the pro-Robertson website iStandwithPhil.com has been flagged on Twitter, prohibiting users from posting messages containing links to the page…according the The Hollywood Reporter.

I made a video, inspired by a list 13 things mentally strong people avoid, written by Amy Morin.
Amy Morin wrote this list of attributes that she observed within patients that were more successful in treatment…
Mentally strong people don’t sit around feeling sorry about their circumstances or how others have treated them. Instead, they take responsibility for their role in life and understand that life isn’t always easy or fair.

They don’t allow others to control them, and they don’t give someone else power over them. They don’t say things like, “My boss makes me feel bad,” because they understand that they are in control over their own emotions and they have a choice in how they respond.
Mentally strong people don’t try to avoid change. Instead, they welcome positive change and are willing to be flexible. They understand that change is inevitable and believe in their abilities to adapt.
You won’t hear a mentally strong person complaining over lost luggage or traffic jams. Instead, they focus on what they can control in their lives. They recognize that sometimes, the only thing they can control is their attitude.
Mentally strong people recognize that they don’t need to please everyone all the time. They’re not afraid to say no or speak up when necessary. They strive to be kind and fair, but can handle other people being upset if they didn’t make them happy.
They don’t take reckless or foolish risks, but don’t mind taking calculated risks. Mentally strong people spend time weighing the risks and benefits before making a big decision, and they’re fully informed of the potential downsides before they take action.

Mentally strong people don’t waste time dwelling on the past and wishing things could be different. They acknowledge their past and can say what they’ve learned from it. However, they don’t constantly relive bad experiences or fantasize about the glory days. Instead, they live for the present and plan for the future.
Mentally strong people accept responsibility for their behavior and learn from their past mistakes. As a result, they don’t keep repeating those mistakes over and over. Instead, they move on and make better decisions in the future.
Mentally strong people can appreciate and celebrate other people’s success in life. They don’t grow jealous or feel cheated when others surpass them. Instead, they recognize that success comes with hard work, and they are willing to work hard for their own chance at success.
Mentally strong people don’t view failure as a reason to give up. Instead, they use failure as an opportunity to grow and improve. They are willing to keep trying until they get it right.
Mentally strong people can tolerate being alone and they don’t fear silence. They aren’t afraid to be alone with their thoughts and they can use downtime to be productive. They enjoy their own company and aren’t dependent on others for companionship and entertainment all the time but instead can be happy alone.
Mentally strong people don’t feel entitled to things in life. They weren’t born with a mentality that others would take care of them or that the world must give them something. Instead, they look for opportunities based on their own merits.
Whether they are working on improving their health or getting a new business off the ground, mentally strong people don’t expect immediate results. Instead, they apply their skills and time to the best of their ability and understand that real change takes time.
This basic principles need to be relearned to generations that were never taught the real meaning of strength!

Great interpretation of the Common Core survey questions. This survey uses leading questions to stear children to liberal ideology. Great video ZoNation! Love your example how the liberals don’t even care about a baby in the womb, why would they really care about future generations that have not yet been born!
