Becoming a Stronger Generation…

Comfort leads to complacency, and unfortunately complacency weakens the human spirit. Today’s society is filled with excuses. Reasons why it is not possible to reach your highest potential. These lies weaken the American spirit and society as a whole. There are generations of people that not only not know how to reach their highest potential, they don’t even know how to stand on their own two feet. There are hundreds of stories that show how these excuses in today’s society are lies.

Many excuses could have been made during World War II, but during this era we hear of ordinary heroes, men and women who risked their lives to save others.

Grandma
My great-grandfather was a man who stood up and helped the Jewish underground in the Netherlands during World War II. My grandmother confesses she is still not aware of all of what he did. Hendrik deKort would help feed Jews that were hidden around town. My grandmother recounted how the Germans would knock on their door asking where Hendrik was, maybe my grandmother’s naiveté was for her own safety. My grandma’s family even took in a mother with a young girl who were displaced after the woman’s husband was taken to a concentration camp and later they took in a few men during the war.

I look to my family as role models. They did what was hard in order to help others. They stepped out of what little comfort they had to help aid to the comfort of their fellow men and women.

Watching the news it is easy to see the driver for today’s society is self-centeredness. I was reminded today, as our society crumbles around us, it’s because they lack the fruits of the spirit…Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-control. To return to these virtues American’s need to find the source to the fruits of the Spirit. American’s need to repent and humble themselves before God and learn from the stronger generations that went before us. Americans need to rebuild themselves in Christ and the nation will follow.
